Terms of Service
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using rackspecs at rackspecs.com (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is operated by rackspecs.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
rackspecs is a continuously-updated catalog of AI and data center rack hardware: rack PDUs, transfer switches, server enclosures, in-row and rear-door coolers and CDUs, busway, KVM switches and serial consoles, and structured cabling. Specifications are normalized from manufacturer datasheets and refreshed on a polling cadence. The Service includes:
- Public product pages. A free, indexable teaser for each product (vendor, SKU, headline specs, an indicator of whether a manufacturer datasheet is on file, and the last-updated date) available without an account. The manufacturer datasheet link itself is reserved for subscribers.
- rackspecs Web. A subscription providing browser access to the full catalog, including complete spec tables, attribute filtering, side-by-side comparison, the manufacturer datasheet link, and CSV / JSON export.
- rackspecs API. A subscription providing programmatic access to the same data via REST endpoints, a change-cursor feed, and change webhooks.
3. Data Disclaimer
Important
All specifications provided through this Service are normalized from manufacturer datasheets and are offered for reference purposes only. They are not a substitute for the manufacturer’s own current documentation, professional engineering judgment, or verification against the authoritative datasheet before any procurement or installation decision.
You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy, applicability, and completeness of any specification retrieved through the Service against the manufacturer’s authoritative source before relying on it. We make no representation that the data is error-free, current, or suitable for any particular application.
The Service does not provide engineering advice and does not replace the services of a licensed professional engineer.
4. Accounts and Registration
To access the Service beyond the free tier, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
5. Subscription Plans and Billing
Public product teaser pages are free to read and require no account. Full catalog access is provided through two independent paid subscriptions:
- rackspecs Web: Browser access to the full catalog, including complete spec tables, attribute filtering, side-by-side comparison, the manufacturer datasheet link, and CSV / JSON export.
- rackspecs API: Programmatic access via REST endpoints, the change-cursor feed, and change webhooks. API plans are tiered by freshness guarantee (weekly, daily, or instant change delivery).
rackspecs Web and rackspecs API are billed separately. A user may hold either, both, or neither. Current pricing is shown on the pricing page and is authoritative if it differs from this summary. We reserve the right to update plan definitions and pricing.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method on the chosen billing interval. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days’ advance notice. Price changes will not apply to the current billing period.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract the contents of the catalog beyond the export and API features included in your subscription.
- Circumvent rate limits, usage allowances, or any access controls.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, data schemas, or underlying systems of the Service.
- Use the Service or its data to build a competing catalog, dataset, or product, including using Service data as training data for any machine learning model.
- Resell, redistribute, republish, syndicate, sublicense, lease, or otherwise make the Service’s data available to any third party, in whole or in part, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes, except under a separate written redistribution license (see our Enterprise plan).
- Share account credentials or allow multiple users to access a single account.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service beyond documented API usage.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
7. Export Compliance and Sanctions
The Service is operated from the United States and is subject to U.S. export control and economic sanctions laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the regulations administered by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). By accessing or using the Service, you represent, warrant, and covenant that:
- You are not located in, ordinarily resident in, or accessing the Service from any country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions or embargo (currently including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine);
- You are not identified on any U.S. government restricted-party list, including OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List or the Commerce Department’s Denied Persons, Entity, or Unverified Lists, and you are not owned or controlled by, or acting on behalf of, any such party; and
- You will not access, use, export, re-export, or transfer the Service or any data obtained through it in violation of applicable export control or sanctions laws, and will not use it for any prohibited end use, including any use restricted by the data sources’ own export-control terms (such as the development, production, or support of advanced integrated circuits or supercomputers where prohibited).
Some specifications in the catalog are normalized from manufacturer datasheets whose access terms impose U.S. export-control obligations. Your use of the Service does not grant you any license or authorization under those laws, and you remain responsible for your own compliance. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access from any jurisdiction or to any person as necessary to comply with these laws, and we may employ geographic and denied-party screening to that end.
8. Intellectual Property and License
The Service, including its data schemas, normalization and curation work, user interface, API, and documentation, is the proprietary property of rackspecs.com and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Hardware specifications served through the Service are normalized from publicly available manufacturer datasheets. Individual data points (e.g., a PDU’s rated input current) are factual and not subject to copyright. However, the curated and normalized collection, schema design, change-tracking infrastructure, and presentation are proprietary. Manufacturer names, model numbers, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Your access to and use of the data is governed by these Terms; the license and restrictions in this section apply as a matter of contract regardless of whether any individual data point is independently protectable by copyright.
License grant. Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to access and use the Service and its data solely for your own internal business purposes. No rights are granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise except as expressly stated here.
Restrictions. Except as expressly permitted by the license above, you may not, and may not permit any third party to: (a) resell, redistribute, republish, syndicate, sublicense, lease, or otherwise make the data available to any third party, in whole or in part, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes; (b) incorporate the data, or any derivative of it, into any product, dataset, catalog, report, or service made available to others; or (c) remove, obscure, or alter any provenance, attribution, or proprietary notice. Redistribution rights are available only under a separate written redistribution license — contact us about an Enterprise plan.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, rackspecs.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages resulting from reliance on data obtained through the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data will be accurate or complete.
11. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through the account settings. We may terminate or suspend your access at our discretion for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice, except in cases of egregious violations where immediate termination may be necessary.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
13. Contact
